JPDA Receives Two BKLYN Design Awards Including Project of the Year

We are humbled and proud to announce that we have won two design awards from AIA Brooklyn, including International Project and Project of the Year!

The BKLYN Design Awards (BKDA) is established by the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Institute of Architects to encourage excellence in architectural design, to make the public more aware of the human-made environment and to honor the architect, owner & builder of significant projects. It is the goal of the AIA Brooklyn chapter to promote its respective members, affiliates, and non member architects through the display of their design and service accomplishments in Brooklyn.



JPDA Receives AIA New York Design Award

We are proud to announce that JPDA's pioneering Star Garment Innovation Center has received a prestigious AIA New York Design Award in the "Sustainability" category.

Juror Mary Ann Lazarus FAIA commented "it covers all the bases when it comes to sustainability in terms of health and wellness, in terms of choice of materials and energy efficiency. It’s really an innovative use of an old structure and defines a new model for the garment industry."



Sri Lanka Passive House receives prestigious PHI Pilot Certificate

NYCxDESIGN award honors Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center design

We are happy to announce that we have been honored by Interior Design Magazine and ICFF with the 2018 NYCxDesign Award for our Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center.

The project received accolades in the Greater Good category which recognizes achievements in design that directly impact the community at large.




JPDA presents Sri Lanka Passive House project at NYPH Conference

Jordan Parnass presented JPDA's Star Garments Product Development Centre at the New York Passive House conference on June 16th.  This project is the sustainable renovation of a factory building in Sri Lanka, which is targeted to receive EnerPHit certification from the Passive House Institute.

The presentation detailed the unique challenges of designing, modelling and directing a project of this complexity in a climate that has seen few high performance buildings.

Lois Arena of Steven Winter Associates co-presented and discussed many of the project's unusual energy "process" loads, which are related to the industrial fabrication taking place within the facility.

New York City DDC Selects JPDA for Design & Construction Excellence Contract

The City of New York relies on the Department of Design and Construction to oversee the vast majority of civic architecture and construction for its agency projects.

Through an extremely competitive application and vetting process, the DDC selects and awards contracts to a small number of firms to perform this work as part of its Design and Construction Excellence program.

Jordan Parnass Digital Architecture is honored to have been chosen as one of the the designated firms that will participate in these projects for the next 36-48 months.


JPDA Hosts Inner City Youth for Introduction to Architecture via Parsons Scholars Program

The studio was buzzing this weekend as we hosted dynamic 25 high school students for an afternoon of sketching, presentations and a lively Q&A about career opportunities in the world of architecture!

The Parsons Scholars Program is a college access program for NYC public high school students who are passionate about pursuing higher education in art and design. Parsons Scholars dedicate their Saturdays and summers to studio coursework and workshops which expose them to a range of exciting art and design careers and majors.


Groundbreaking for the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center (DSPAC) took place on Saturday October 25th, 2014.  In attendance were Brooklynn Borough President Eric Adams, members of the Board of the DSPAC, Dwana Smallwood, a large number of representatives from the local community, as well as Jordan Parnass and many staff from JPDA.

The occasion was marked by heartfelt speeches, as well as a spirited dance perfomance in the street by current students of Dwana Smallwood.
