Pepsico Headquarters - Edward Durrell Stone
posted by sean on Wednesday, April 15th AT 07:16:17 AM

Over the weekend I visited the Pepsico Headquarters to take a walk around their massive sculpture collection.  It turned out that while the vast array of famous sculptures were impressive, I was more taken with the building.  Designed in 1971 by Edward Durrell Stone, it sits perched above the sculpture park which sprawls out on an 112 acre site.  The building is divided into 4 parts, with each part only connecting to its neighbor at the corners, allowing for protected intimate spaces around the extent of the building.  Patterned concrete panels adorn the facades and bring the enormous building down to a human scale. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
